Zeekr’s 001 model has electrifying start with 2,000 orders in first month

The new all-electric premium brand Zeekr has announced that it has already delivered more than 2,000 of its 001 EVs, its first 5-door luxury shooting brake, to customers across China.

Zeekr is owned by automotive manufacturing giant Geely and plans to prioritise local market customers before launching globally in 2023.

Andy An, chief executive of Zeekr, said: “We revealed Zeekr to the world in April this year and in just eight months, we have developed the 001, started production at our state-of-the-art Intelligent Factory in Ningbo and delivered over 2,000 of our luxury shooting brake coupes. This was an extremely ambitious challenge for Zeekr and I am truly proud of this start-up’s progress in such record time.”

The 001 is based on the Geely’s Sustainable Electric Architecture (SEA) modular EV platform, enabling up to 400kw of power with a max torque of 768Nm.

A twin motor system gives it an acceleration of 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 124mph.

Using Zeekr’s own battery technologies, the 001’s 100kWh Z-Battery is capable of delivering up to 400 miles of range and can be charged from 10-80% within 30 minutes, according to the NEDC cycle used in China.

Zeeker says that its Intelligent Factory, where production is taking place, is one of the most advanced vehicle facilities because it has a 5G+ system that allows for agile and transparent production management.

This 5G+ intelligent Internet system means that over 300 robots are already carrying out the work in the welding section, with limited human intervention.

Prices for the 001 are for the Chinese market only and have averaged at $53,000 with most orders being for its mid to high range models.
