MG Motor had a very solid March 2021 as the company has seen record market share and sales last month.
The rapidly growing car brand achieved 3,956 registrations in March, and it certainly has to thank its battery electric options as 30.5% of its sales were electric vehicles.
In total, MG achieved a BEV market share of 5.5%, ahead of a number of high-volume established brands. This amazing result certainly does not come as surprise. The company is quickly becoming a key EV manufacturer in UK.
MG Motor now offers multiple EVs options. We reported that the company has just revealed the facelift for the MG5 EV, which will be powered by an electric motor that delivers 184 hp and a 249 miles range.
MG has also entered the premium SUV segment with its new Marvel R, which we reported will be powered by three electric engines that will generate an output of 212kW (284hp) and a range of 250 miles.
The company is planning to basically introduce an electric vehicle for any segment they can think of. In fact, by the end of 2021, MG plans to build an all-electric hypercar and a compact EV hatchback.
The reliable, affordable and overall great electric vehicles of MG are helping the company in its quest to become an important player on the EV market, according to Guy Pigounakis, MG’s Commercial Director.
“It shows how rapidly engaged the car buying public are becoming in the MG brand as we continue to innovate and offer great value, high tech and pioneering new cars and demonstrate our leadership in affordable EVs,” he said. “It’s an astonishing result and one that underlines our commitment to continued growth.”
The company has also announced that from now on, it will offer service plans to its EV customers from just £6 a month.
Overall, MG has achieved its best-ever sales month in the UK market and recorded a record market share of 1.45%, a 28.1% growth over March 2020.
