Electric vehicles owners and fans should save this date in their agendas: September 9th, which is officially the inaugural World EV Day. However, if you are impatient for that day there is something else you can do, which is to make an online pledge that your next vehicle will be electric.
World EV Day is designed to generate increased consumer awareness about the benefit of EVs, putting electric driving at the top of the agenda and by also asking drivers to commit to an online pledge to make their next car an electric vehicle, in order to recognise the crucial role that electric vehicles play in driving forward sustainable transport.
The celebration is organised by ABB, a leading global technology company that has sold more than 14,000 DC fast chargers across more than 80 countries, and Green.TV. World EV Day will be working with other partners and leaders in the e-mobility sector to build an international e-mobility movement.
The hope of the organisers is that this new official date will bring actual and tangible changes for a greener future according to Frank Muehlon, Head of ABB’s global business for E-mobility Infrastructure Solutions.
“World EV Day shines a spotlight on the need for greater electric vehicle uptake, and we hope this campaign will help to catalyse a global movement, which will support a zero-emission transport future,” he said.
Additional partners include, Mahindra Electric Mobility, which manufactures electric vehicles and related technologies, Polestar, an electric vehicle manufacturer, SSE, one of the ‘big six’ energy companies in the UK, and NIO, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer.
If you are interested or know someone that it is interested in being part of the all-electric revolution, Green.TV and ABB invite you to take a pledge by visiting www.worldevday.org/ev-pledge.
New initiatives such as this one will certainly be helpful to drive consumers towards a more sustainable future.
