Nissan has released details of its latest EV architecture – the CMF-EV platform.
The innovative platform is a critical component of Nissan’s electrification strategy and will form the basis of 15 of the automaker's electric models by 2030.
Nissan’s engineers have given the CMF-EV platform a flat construction bed. The electric motors are located directly adjacent to the front and rear axles, while the batteries were made as slim as possible to make use of all available space.
Another way Nissan has made the platform roomier is to push the air conditioning unit into the motor room. The result is more legroom throughout, creating a lounge-like experience.
The platform can also accommodate multiple powertrain options, including a single and dual-motor e-4ORCE configuration.
e-4ORCE is Nissan’s most advanced all-wheel control technology. Through a series of precise motor and braking inputs, the innovative system strikes a balance between powerful performance and control – offering elevated driver confidence on a variety of road surfaces.
“The CMF-EV platform is a marvel of creative engineering; from providing exceptional living-room style space – longer cabin length to vehicle length – to accommodating our state-of-the-art e-4ORCE drivetrain technology, its versatility gives us the ability to push the boundaries of engineering and design capabilities,” said Pierre Loing, vice president of product planning at Nissan Motors.
