Osprey Charging has recently marked a significant milestone in the United Kingdom's electric vehicle (EV) landscape by deploying over 1,000 public rapid EV chargers nationwide. This achievement positions Osprey as the third-largest Charge Point Operator (CPO) in the UK for public rapid and ultra-rapid chargers, according to the latest statistics from Zap-Map.
Over the past year, Osprey‘s network has witnessed an exponential growth of 150%, a clear indicator of the company's commitment to accelerating the UK's transition to electric mobility. The expansion includes the installation of 15 high-powered charging hubs, each equipped with six or more 300kW chargers, strategically located in key areas such as Devon, Cumbria, Essex, Dunbartonshire, Carmarthenshire, and Nottinghamshire. These hubs offer EV drivers accessible, reliable, and high-powered charging options.
In 2023 alone, Osprey's ambitious growth strategy saw the network scale up significantly, making it the fastest-growing rapid charging network in the UK. The early months of 2024 have continued this momentum, with Osprey rolling out more chargers than any other network.
Osprey chargers boast an impressive 99% reliability rate, offering a user-friendly charging experience that has earned the network the title of ‘Driver Recommended Network' by Zap Map for the fourth consecutive year. Furthermore, Osprey was honoured as the Best EV Charging Network at the 2023 Transport and Energy awards and received the Chargepoint Network of the Year award at the Electric Vehicle Innovation and Excellence Awards (EVIEs).
Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging, highlighted the company's role in providing the essential infrastructure needed to support the electric vehicle revolution. He emphasised the network's commitment to maintaining high service standards for drivers, facilitated by a reliable and easy-to-use nationwide network. Johnston also welcomed recent recommendations from the House of Lords to accelerate the rollout of charging infrastructure, including addressing delays in funding, planning regulations, and the call for equal VAT rates between domestic and public charging.
