Tesla supercharger network hits 1,000 stalls across UK and Ireland

Tesla’s supercharger network has expanded to 1,000 stalls in over 100 locations across the UK and Ireland.

The 1000th stall is situated in the newly opened London Sidcup supercharger location at Ruxley Manor with 15 stalls in total, the company said. The site can be easily accessed from the A20 and offers amenities, such as a restaurant, café, grocery store, garden centre, hand car wash and toilet facilities.

The network is now eight years old since the first superchargers were installed in London at the Royal Victoria Docks in 2014. In 2022, Tesla opened 177 new Supercharger stalls and 17 new locations in the UK and Ireland, including Dublin and Edinburgh.

Although most EV owners recharge at home or at work whilst the car is parked, the supercharger network enables convenient, long distance travel, the company said. Superchargers are placed on major roads on all well-travelled routes across the UK and Ireland. Tesla’s charging stretches from Aviemore in the heart of the Scottish Highlands to the Eurotunnel Terminal at Folkstone and the gateway into Europe, facilitating long-distance travels and exploration, according to the company.

The company plans to add further V3 superchargers at future locations, which add up to 75 miles of charge in five minutes and charge at rates of up to 1,000 miles per hour. Future plans show superchargers continuing to expand.

The company also launched a non-Tesla supercharger in November 2021 and the pilot is expanding to new sites, the company said. In May, 15 selected stations and 158 individual superchargers were part of the pilot in the UK.
