Fisker expands into India with new HQ

Fisker's Ocean is approaching production at last.

Californian-based EV start-up Fisker has announced it has established an Indian headquarters in the southern city of Hyderabad, Telangana State.

Fisker Vigyan India Pvt Ltd will focus on software and virtual vehicle development, data analytics and machine learning.

The firm’s engineering and product development facilities in California will work alongside the new Hyderabad office.

“Our expansion into India represents both a strategic market opportunity and a significant boost to our global engineering capabilities,” said Fisker chairman and chief executive Henrik Fisker.

Fisker is looking to capitalise on the growing talent pool in India, with the move expected to create up to 200 jobs in the region.

“In the global race for leading technical talent, we see our new operation in Hyderabad as a major strategic advantage,” said Mr. Fisker.

“We have already started local hiring in India and expect our new team in Hyderabad to be fully operational and engaged on multiple product programs within weeks. Our talent pool in India will help us pave the way for the launch of Fisker Ocean and Fisker PEAR in India.”

Production of the Fisker Ocean SUV, which debuted at Mobility World Congress in Spain, will commence on November 17 2022.

The EV in Sport trim level will have an estimated range of 250 miles, while the Fisker Ocean Extreme will travel up to 350 miles between charges.
