ŠKODA has revealed it is launching a sportier-looking Enyaq Coupé iV to add to its Enyaq iV range.
Based on the same MEB platform as its SUV sibling, “the new Enyaq Coupé iV brings even more emotiveness, sports styling and elegance to the ŠKODA iV family,” said Thomas Schäfer, ŠKODA’s chief executive.
“The Enyaq Coupé iV perfectly combines emotion with efficiency, offering the ŠKODA-typical generous amounts of space, even in a particularly elegant body.”
In the UK, the Coupé will be available in one 82kWh battery size giving it a range of up to 339 miles under WLTP testing, making it suitable for travelling long distances.
This is a better range then the regular SUV model thanks to a drag coefficient of 0.234Cd – adding an extra 10 miles over the longest-range SUV option.
The Coupé comes with a choice of rear or all-wheel drive, along with three power variants.
The entry-level Enyaq iV 80 produces 150kW while the Enyaq iV 80x produces 195kW by adding an extra motor on the front axle making it an all-wheel-drive vehicle.
SKODA has also unveiled its first ever range-topping vRS model delivering 220kW and a maximum torque of 460Nm. This all-wheel drive version takes 6.5 seconds to accelerate from 0-62mph and has a top speed of 111mph.
In terms of design, the Coupé features a dark tinted panoramic glass roof as standard and a gently rearward sloping roofline. The vRS has a discrete sporty front apron and body-coloured side skirts as well as alloy wheels that measure between 19 and 21-inches.
As with the enyaq iV, customers can purchase the optional crystal face where the vertical ribs of the SKODA grille are illuminated by 131 LEDs. This comes as standard with the vRS.
Oliver Stefani, head of ŠKODA design, said with the Enyaq Coupé iV “we have retained almost all aspects of the VISION iV study, which attracted a great deal of attention just over two years ago. Its elegant design featuring sculptural and crystalline details give the car a powerful appearance. Sporting athletic lines, our brand-new, all-electric first-class model is even more emotive than the successfully launched ENYAQ iV. At the same time, the coupé also offers brand-typical qualities, such as generous amounts of space and a high level of functionality.”
Inside, there is a 5.3-inch digital cockpit and 13-inch central infotainment screen that comes with Android Auto and Apple Car Play support, a head-up display option and smartphone app for scheduling charging and pre-conditioning of the cabin.
Climate control, a keyless go system, heated front and rear seats and a heated windscreen also feature as standard.
The equipment can be expanded with ten optional packages making it possible to fully configure the Coupé. These are arranged by elements such as assistance systems, comfort, and infotainment.
Like with the Enyaq iV, the trim levels are available in so-called ‘Design Selection’ packs, including Lodge and ecoSuite options.
Inspired by modern living environments, these feature sustainable materials such as seat covers made from 40% natural wool and 60% recycled PET plastic.
The Design Selection ‘Lounge’ is a modern look adding microfibre upholstery while the ‘Suite’ trim comes with black leather seats.
Standard equipment in the vRS includes aluminium pedal covers, sports seats with integrated headrests and carbon-fibre-effect decorative strips on the dashboard.
All SKODA assistance systems are available with the Coupé iV, including Travel Assist 2.5 – which comprises adaptive cruise control, lane assist, traffic jam assist and emergency assist. Pedestrian and cyclist detection as well as blind spot detection also feature, while LED matrix headlights and up to nine airbags are available as options.
Prices are expected to start at around £40,000 and all Coupé variants will be available to order from Spring with deliveries due in July/August time.
