Scientifically proven: driving a Tesla gets you more dates

A new study from money.co.uk has found that Tesla drivers are seen as up to 110% more attractive and more likely to get matched on dating apps than any other car owner.

Analysing data from over 100,000 swipes and matches, the Driving Attraction study created identical dating profiles on a range of apps, in multiple cities across the world, where the only difference were the cars featured in the profile.

The study looked at over 70 car models from 30 brands to find the cars that would boost a single's curb appeal and it appears that the Tesla Model S is the world's ‘sexiest' vehicle, boosting match rates by 113% for male profiles and 13% of female ones.

Meanwhile, the Seat Azteca is the worst wingman around. Male profiles featuring the car took a 77% hit to their match rates.

While the make and model of car had a larger impact on male profiles match rates than women (the average male overall match rate was just 8%, compared to 56% for women), driving a Tesla, Aston Martin (99%), Porsche (73%), Land Rover (57%) or Audi (41%) would give users the best chances of landing a date, especially if they are men.

The study found that overall, it was the badge not the model that mattered. For instance, while the Tesla Model S took the top spot, the more ‘affordable’ Model 3 produced a comparable swipe rate, despite being nearly 30% cheaper to buy.

Range Rovers were the only 4x4s to break into the top 10, with the top spots mostly reserved for German coupes and saloons from Porsche, Audi and BMW.

Featuring a car in a dating profile has a more dramatic effect on male profile match rates than female ones. Overall, where featuring a car in a profile had a positive impact on match rates, there was an average increase in matches of 34% for male profiles, and a minor uplift of around 3% for female ones.
