Hyundai Motor UK has announced the pricing and specification of the New Kona Electric.
The new Kona continues with a choice of two powertrain offerings, a 39.2kWh battery with 136PS motor and a range of 189 miles, or the 64kWh battery option with 204PS motor and a range of 300 miles. Both versions can be charged from as little as 47 minutes on a 100kW charger, with a full recharge from a 7.2kW charger obtained in just 6 hours.
The 39kWh option will have a starting price of £33,125, and the more powerful 64kWh Premium Kona will start from £38,225.
All New Kona electric models come with Hyundai’s industry-leading 5 Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty, 8-year 100,000 mile High Voltage Battery Warranty, Roadside Assistance package, 5 Year Annual Health Check, and 12 Year Anti Corrosion Warranty.
The Kona has helped the company becoming an important player on the market and the new updates will allow Hyundai to keep being a leader in the EV world, according to Ashley Andrew, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor UK.
“Kona Electric has been a fundamental player in the UK’s fast growing electric vehicle market and the latest updates will see us continue to offer customers a truly viable fully electric model that meets their expectations in terms of cost, range and equipment levels,” he said.
The EV has undergone a series of exterior design updates such as the front with a new-look closed grille and new LED Daytime Running Lights plus new, sharper headlamps that incorporate multifaceted reflector (MFR) technology.
The launch of the new Kona comes at a difficult time for the company and this specific model as we reported that Hyundai has been forced to recall over 77,000 Kona EVs due to fire risk.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has also announced that its dedicated EV brand has unveiled its first electric vehicle ever, the Ioniq 5. The new EV is based on the company’s dedicated BEV architecture called Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
