Dacia Spring launches in France with phenomenal £10k price

The new Dacia Spring has finally launched in France and is expected to be a gamechanger as Europe’s most affordable EV.

The new EV costs only €12,403 after France's generous EV incentives, which corresponds to £10,630.

For that affordable price, drivers will get the perfect city car as the Spring is powered by an electric motor that makes 44bhp and 92lb ft, fed by a 26.8kWh battery. The Dacia will have a respectable WLTP range of 142 miles and according to the company if the EV is only driven in the city the range rises to an impressive 189 miles. The Spring will have a top speed of 62 mph.

The Dacia Spring is tiny – even the Renault Zoe looks like a monster in comparison.

The new EV also has perfect dimensions for urban life as it is only 3.73 metres long and the turning circle is a mere 4.8 metres. The boot is 300 litres, increasing to 600 litres when the rear seats are folded down, plus there are 23 litres of storage in the front.

Dacia also offers a Comfort Plus version of the Spring from €18,490 (€13,498 with deductions) that adds a 7-inch infotainment screen, rear-view camera, rear parking sensors and most importantly the optional CCS socket, which grants the vehicle fast-charging capability at up to 30 kW.

The Spring was first unveiled at the Renault eWays event by Denis Le Vot, Executive Vice-President of Dacia. We have also reported that at the same event Renault has shown the world its new all-electric vehicle the Megan eVision.

Dacia will open pre-orders in France this month and the first vehicles are expected to be delivered this autumn.
