MG service plans for EVs cost as little as £6 per month

MG Motor has announced that it will offer service plans to its EV customers from just £6 a month.

This service plan will allow MG owners to get their periodic maintenance alongside a full safety inspection by the company’s certified technicians.

Also, each time the car is serviced by an MG Dealer, it is registered on MG’s Digital Service Record (DSR) system, which gives an additional 12 months’ MG Assistance (provided by the AA).

The service plan for the EVs is less than half of what ICE owners will have to pay as the service plan for petrol engines starts from £14 a month.

MG has pointed out that this monthly service payment plan will help customers make sure their EVs are running smoothly at a very low cost, according to MG’s Head of Aftersales, Harvey France.

“Whilst our servicing has always been affordable, spreading the cost into easy monthly payments means you get peace of mind that your bills are covered, anywhere from two years up to five,” he said. “it’s just another example of how EVs are driving down the cost of motoring as well as improving emissions.”

This is just the latest example showing that MG is gearing up towards its all-electric future while continuously widening its EV portfolio. In fact, we have reported that the company has recently debuted the MG5 EV, which is the UK’s first electric estate car.

The EV is powered by a 115kW electric motor (equivalent to 156PS), with a 52.2kWh Lithium-Ion battery pack that can be charged from zero to 80% in just 50 minutes using a rapid charger and it has a range of 214 miles when full.

The MG5 starts from just £24,495 after the Plug-In Car Grant which enabled it to win Best Value EV in our recent 2020 awards.

We also reported that the company is planning to launch an affordable compact all-electric hatchback. The new EV, which is rumoured to be called Supermini, is expected to have a starting price sub-£20,000 and to arrive towards the end of 2021.
