Video: Tesla Model 3 keeps up with Ferrari 488 Pista on track in France

YouTuber Sebastian Vittel (no relation to jaded racing driver Sebastian Vettel, it seems) took a Tesla Model 3 Performance with the “Track Pack v2” out on track at the Circuit de Bresse in France. Around this 3.2km raceway, after a bit of bother getting past what looks like a Renault Megane, he keeps pace with a Ferrari 488 Pista giving it the full beans.

Or maybe, like a lot of supercar drivers on track, the Ferrari owner was a bit worried about binning his £300k vehicle and not quite driving with full abandon. In theory, the 488 Pista can hit 60mph in 2.7 seconds where the Model 3 requires 3.2 seconds, but it's still impressive how close Vittel could get to a car five times the price and aimed at track performance in what is still an essentially a four-door electric executive saloon.

The downside: in 30 minutes of track driving Vittel managed to reduce the Model 3 from 100% charge to 20%. Luckily, the on-track Tesla Supercharger was able to put its battery back up to 100% in 40 minutes.
