Range Rover Electric opens waiting list for highly anticipated model

Perfect chance to fix security issues as well as reducing emissions

Range Rover has unveiled the waiting list for its highly anticipated Range Rover Electric model, preceding the formal opening of orders to customers. This move marks a significant step for the luxury SUV brand into the realm of electric vehicles. The first step in its £15 billion evolution programme.

The Range Rover Electric is anticipated to embody cutting-edge modernity while staying true to the brand's distinctive design. The vehicle will uphold its renowned capability to navigate various terrains, including towing and wading, setting a new standard for luxury electric SUVs.

Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director of Range Rover, expressed enthusiasm about the unprecedented demand the latest generation Range Rover has generated worldwide since its 2021 release. “The latest generation Range Rover has set a new benchmark for desirability. We’re now opening the official waiting list for the opportunity to be among the first to place a pre-order for the most anticipated Range Rover of recent times,” said Ingham.

Thomas Müller, Executive Director of Product Engineering at JLR, highlighted the brand's commitment to creating the quietest and most refined Range Rover yet. He stated, “The magic ingredients that underpin the success of Range Rover remain unchanged: timeless, reductionist design, a serene cabin, and go-anywhere capability – but now offered with zero tailpipe emissions.”

The forthcoming Range Rover Electric will deliver performance akin to the flagship Range Rover V8, maintaining the all-terrain capability synonymous with the brand since its inception in 1970.

Physical prototype testing is currently underway, focusing on achieving the quietest and most refined Range Rover ever created. This involves unique active road noise cancellation configurations, sound design enhancements, and elevated levels of cabin comfort. Testing will take place in JLR's brand new facility.

The testing regime extends globally, encompassing rigorous assessments in diverse climates ranging from -40°C to +50°C, spanning locations from Sweden to Dubai. The aim is to ensure the electric drive system's robustness, battery durability, chassis integrity, and vehicle dynamics.

The Range Rover Electric will be constructed in the United Kingdom, utilising the Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) in Solihull, alongside existing mild and plug-in hybrid Range Rover vehicles. For the first time, batteries and Electric Drive Units (EDUs) will be assembled at JLR's new Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton.

Range Rover's move towards electrification aligns with its 2039 net-zero carbon ambition, showcasing a commitment to sustainable luxury design. As part of the JLR house of brands, including Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar, Range Rover stands as one of the world's leading British luxury brands, available in 121 countries.
