Ohme says its charger complies with new government rules and helps save money

The UK charging platform provider Ohme said its product has already complied with the new regulation from the government on home chargers.

Ohme’s CEO David Watson said that Ohme’s customers do not need to be concerned about new rules as the product “is already compliant”.

He also mentioned that existing Home Pro owners could update the application for these new functions.

The new national regulation on home and workplace electric car chargers will come into effect on the 1st of July.

These new rules require all chargers to have intelligent charging capability. It also means that all smart chargers need to have a data connection that can measure and transmit records so that drivers can view their charging history.

Ohme explained that its product could connect with the grid in real-time to automatically adjust the charging so that drivers can take advantage of the low-price charging period, which is essential to get the cheapest possible running costs for an EV.

Ohme’s application allows drivers to set Home Pro to charge their EV when prices drop below a certain point. The company calculates that drivers could save up to £1,000 by charging their EV with an Ohme Home Pro charger compared to setting standard electricity rates.

The company said that it “is alone in offering drivers the option to charge their car when renewable energy generation on the National Grid is highest, further lowering their CO2 impact”.

The innovative EV charger provider also mentions that its technology will help businesses succeed in their corporate sustainability targets.

Ohme is currently the official charger provider for customers on the Motability scheme, the largest UK fleet operator in the UK.

The company has been named the Best Electric Charging Point Provider by Business Motoring and voted number one for customer service in Auto Express magazine’s 2022 Driver Power survey.
