Furniture Village to receive 25 e-2008s from Peugeot as it adopts fully electric fleet

Britain’s largest independent furniture retailer Furniture Village has placed an order with Peugeot for 25 e-2008s in a move to adopt a fully electric fleet.

Furniture Village chose the compact SUV because of its size, electric range, specs, and competitive finance offers, the French automaker said. The British retailer has purchased these vehicles for its field managers and store managers who are required to travel between the company’s various UK locations and visit customer homes.

The e-2008 comes with a 50kWh battery and a 136hp electric motor, enough to travel up to 214 miles on a single charge. With zero tailpipe emissions, the vehicle achieves a 2% Benefit-in-Kind rate, which makes it useful for fleets and business users.

All 25 models ordered are in Allure Premium trim, which includes 17in diamond cut alloy wheels and a gloss black finish for the rear bumper and roof rails. The cars are equipped with Peugeot 3D i-Cockpit, featuring a configurable 3D head-up digital instrument panel, compact multi-function steering wheel and 7in high-definition capacitive colour touchscreen.

In terms of safety features, the vehicles have a 180-degree colour reversing camera and Active Safety Brake with night function and cyclist and pedestrian detection.

“It’s great to see companies like this leading the way in the transition to electrification,” Peugeot UK’s Managing Director Julie David said of Furniture Village, which is currently installing EV charge points at all its stores and fulfilment centres across the UK. The e- e-2008 offers a range of charging options, including 100kW rapid charging that can provide up to 80 per cent charge in half an hour.

Adoption of e-2008s is one of the steps the company is taking to become more environmentally friendly, Commercial Director, Furniture Village Charlie Harrison said. The vehicle’s range and rapid charging capability makes it suitable for the company’s employees as they travel to and from its 54 stores and 12 fulfilment centres nationwide and customers’ homes, he added.

As part of its electrification strategy, Peugeot plans to roll out electric variants of each model in its range by 2024, a year earlier than the previous plan of 2025.
