Homeowners could earn £1,000 a year with JustPark’s new ‘FleetCharge’ solution

Driveway sharing platform JustPark has launched FleetCharge, which aims to open up and electrify private driveways for businesses looking to switch their fleets to EVs.

As it stands, 75% of UK fleet drivers do not have access to off-street parking at home, and so owning an EV can be a challenge.

Business drivers also do not have the time out of their working day to find public chargers and many are not suitable for larger vehicles or e-vans.

So JustPark says it will find a local homeowner with a driveway within a 5-minute walk of the EV driver, install a home charger and provide the fleet driver with exclusive access to that charging point.

The company will cover all the installation and day-to-day running costs of the charging unit, and the homeowner could earn up to £1,000 a year tax-free.

Any homeowner with a driveway is invited to register their interest in becoming a FleetCharge host.

“It’s a win-win for the driver and business but also for the homeowner,” said Mike Strahlman, director of EV at JustPark.

Freelance motoring writer, presenter and EV specialist Vicky Parrott, added: “The transition to an electric car is much harder for anyone who can't charge reliably at home, company car driver or not. With FleetCharge now offering a reliable, guaranteed overnight charging solution for those who can't plug in at home, it promises to make the jump to an electric car much more attainable for a whole range of business users. Plus, for hosts, the guaranteed monthly income could help households who are feeling the pinch due to rising living costs.”

A recent study also showed that homes with an EV charger are worth more.
