New Mercedes-Benz e-Vito with Gold safety rating available to order now

UK customers can now order the pure electric Mercedes-Benz e-Vito van with first deliveries due in March.

The e-Vito is one of the safest vans on the market, according to the independent crash testing body EURO NCAP, which gave it a Gold 2021 safety rating.

Standard safety features include active brake assist with pedestrian recognition technology, attention assist, which encourages a driver to take breaks after detecting drowsiness, and cruise control with an adaptive speed limiter function.

There is also an anti-theft protection package. This includes double locks, a Thatcham category 1-approved alarm and an award-winning MobiloVan support system with free, 24/7 emergency roadside assistance.

Its 66kWh battery gives it a combined WLTP range of up to 162 miles on a single charge.

Drivers can charge the battery back up to 80% in 35 minutes using a public rapid charging point and so a short stop can extend the vehicle’s range by around 105 miles.

An 11kW Wallbox Type 2 charger can restore the battery to 100% in six-and-a-half hours while a regular domestic power outlet takes approximately 20 hours.

Kevin Ferris, Mercedes-Benz Vans UK head of electric mobility, said: “Mercedes- Benz is leading the transition to electric mobility and the new e-Vito takes our electric vans range to the next level. This is an exceptional van that goes further, works harder and keeps businesses moving for longer.”

The 3.2 tonne vehicle has a total payload allowance of up to 807kg and a maximum load volume of 6.6m3.

In terms of technology, the van comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration and includes a three-year Mercedes me app subscription – providing connectivity via digital devices, such as remote eCharging and remote locking.

There is a pre-conditioning feature in the Mercedes me app where drivers can cool or heat the van while it is charging, conserving battery life and maximising range.

The new eVito is available in a Progressive trimline, featuring air conditioning, a reversing camera and an Audio 20 entertainment system with DAB radio, Apple Car Play, and Android Auto.

Customers also have the choice of a new Premium line trim. This adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a chrome grille, leather-covered steering wheel, and practical driving aids, including Parktronic parking sensors, front fog lights, electrically-folding door mirrors and lumbar support for the seat.

To provide extra choice and value, Mercedes-Benz has introduced four option packages, incorporating additional features in priced bundles starting from £432.

They are: Load Area Package, Technology Package PLUS, Comfort Package PLUS and Driver Assistance Package.

The e-Vito starts from £43,600 and customers are entitled to the £5,000 Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) grant contribution.
