BMW is launching its most powerful EV yet this summer – the BMW iX M60.
With prices starting from £111,905 OTR, the SUV has a peak output of 611bhp, a maximum torque of 1,100Nm and can hit 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds.
The power of the electric drive continues steadily into high load ranges and so its acceleration remains constant up to a top speed of 155mph.
This will be the German automakers third variant of the BMW iX flagship model launched last year.
Embodying the best of BMW i, BMW X and BMW M GmBH in one model, the manufacturer claims it can run up to 357 miles on a single charge.
The Tesla Model X rival has an electric all-wheel drive, an actuator-based wheel slip feature and suspension technology, including a specifically M tuned 2-axle air suspension – all of which ensure a “hallmark driving experience, agility and precision,” says BMW.
The battery is located deep down in the underbody to ensure the vehicle’s low centre of gravity. Its exterior is made of aluminium and the carbon cage with carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the roof, side and rear sections combine an intelligent mix of materials that increase rigidity and optimise weight.
The BMW iX M60’s aerodynamic properties have been optimised to achieve a 0.27 drag coefficient, benefitting the vehicle’s range and efficiency. It comes fitted with 22-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, soft close doors, laser lights and park assist with an all-new interior camera.
Interior wise, the M60 benefits from olive leaf tanned natural leather upholstery, massage seats, a Bower & Wilkins sound system, four-zone air conditioning and front electric seats.
The centre control is powered by the new BMW operating system 8 and features voice communication, as well as a maps system and augmented reality video to ensure fast route planning and traffic guidance.
The M60 is being manufactured at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing in Bavaria, Germany.
