BMW i7 put through its paces in final testing phase

BMW has released images of its all-electric i7 in camouflage body paint while it undergoes the final phase of the series development process with a demanding test programme in extreme road and weather conditions.

Engineers verify the performance of the luxury sedan by measuring every reaction of the all-wheel drive, high-voltage battery, and electric motors, to ensure it can withstand high temperatures, unpaved roads, dust, and large differences in altitude.

BMW is looking to deliver an exclusive driving experience in any situation and so the i7 will cover tens of thousands of kilometres including long-distance and high-speed driving and stop-and-go traffic in scorching heat.

This gruelling procedure is also used to monitor the performance of the air-conditioning and other on-board electronics including the temperature resistance of interior materials.

According to the car manufacturer, the all-electric i7 will be presented in the course of 2022 along with other model variants of the new BMW 7 series.

These tests take place as the i4 and iX prepare to enter the UK market.
