Volta Trucks and Sibros team up to offer fully connected electric trucks

Swedish company Volta Trucks is partnering with Sibros to equip the Volta Zero with connected vehicle software.

The Volta Zero, which is due to start series production in 2022, is a pioneering fully electric 16-tonne commercial vehicle designed for inner-city goods transportation. Volta Trucks predicts that the Volta Zero will eliminate an estimated 1.2M tonnes of CO2 by 2025.

Sibros, an award-winning company based in Silicon Valley, will provide the Volta Zero with software solutions, including the Sibros Over-The-Air (OTA) Deep Logger, which will deliver updates, data collection and diagnostics in one integrated system. The technology will provide real time, relevant vehicle data to assist with the logistics of city centre freight distribution.

The data insights have the potential to increase vehicle efficiencies and aid customer’s businesses. Volta Trucks’ customers will also be able to access driver alerts, charging infrastructure, and over-the-air updates for navigation.

“OTA software updates, data management and analysis are all crucial components in bringing customised, safe and sustainable vehicles to the world,” said Hemant Sikaria, CEO and co-founder of Sibros. The partnership signals what the future might hold for smart transportation.

The Sibros software will give Volta Trucks full transparency and control, allowing customers to fully utilise their data. The connected platform will also enable Volta Trucks to share important data with global partners and develop solutions based on data insights.

The partnership will provide operational efficiency for Volta Trucks’ partners and customers, according to Ian Collins, Chief Product Officer of Volta Trucks.

“We are confident that working closely with Sibros will enable us to revolutionise last-mile logistics and allow us to easily expand and scale our business, while concentrating on our goal of being the safest large commercial vehicle manufacturer,” he added.
