Kia launches new 282-mile e-Niro with price to beat UK Plug-in Grant cut

Kia Motors has opened the order books for its new Kia e-Niro ‘2’ Long Range, priced so that it still receives the UK Plug-in Car Grant, which has been cut to £2,500 for vehicles below £35,000.

According to the company the new EV will offer more range than any other sub-£35,000 electric vehicle. The e-Niro features the same long-range 64kWh battery pack and high-power 150kW / 201hp motor as higher-specification e-Niro models, while offering a £34,945 on-the-road price (before applying the government grant).

The new all-electric Kia will boast an impressive range of up to 282 miles on a single charge (WLTP combined), and up to 382 miles in city driving.

The vehicle will be equipped with strong features such as 8.0-inch touchscreen display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels, reversing camera system and rear parking sensors, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and Smart Key & Button Start.

As we reported, the Kia e-Niro has proved to be a very popular choice among consumers. In fact, the Korean company has reported at the start of the year that one in six of its sales was an electric vehicle.

All e-Niro models, including the new ‘2’ Long Range variant, allow owners to sign up to KiaCharge, a new UK-wide integrated public charging service. As we reported, this service will provide easier and comprehensive access to the UK public charging network of more than 15,000 charge points across the country.

It has been a very interesting month for the all-electric options of Kia as the company has also announced its first ever dedicated electric vehicle, the EV6. The dedicated EV will be based on the brand’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), developed in partnership with Hyundai
