Nissan has unveiled the LEAF10, a special edition of the popular all-electric car, to celebrate 10 successful years of sales as the first mass-market EV in the world.
The special edition of the LEAF will be available from this month in dealerships across the UK starting from £28,820 OTR (including the Plug in Car Grant). This version will feature a tantalising array of technologies such as intuitive in-car Wi-Fi, the award-winning ProPILOT and a new Intelligent Rear-View Mirror.
The EV will also be equipped with e-Pedal technologies, which offers an engaging electrified driving experience. The e-Pedal helps the car to harvest energy via regenerative braking that engages as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator. It will be recycling the energy from the movement of the car during braking or deceleration, which will then go straight back to the batteries, where it will be used to recharge them.
LEAF10 customers will be able to choose from two body colours: Standard Pearl Black Metallic, or the brand new two-tone Ceramic Grey and Pearl Black cost option. Also, to complete the stylish exterior, the EV comes with 17-inch alloys as standard on all N-Connecta models.
The special edition will include a host of innovative safety features. In fact, owners can set alerts to ensure their LEAF stays within the limits, whether that is a pre-defined location or within a certain speed.
Customers will also benefit from Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention and Nissan’s newly launched Intelligent Rear-View Mirror, usually a £395 cost option, to provide greater visibility and reassurance whilst driving.
The Leaf has been one of the most popular EVs on the market for the past 10 years and the company hopes that with the new array of technologies its EV will keep up this positive trend for years to come, according to Helen Perry, Chief Marketing Manager of Electric Passenger Cars & Infrastructure at Nissan Europe.
“Our iconic model has attracted over 180,000 motorists across Europe,” she said. “We hope that, with its enhanced styling features and latest technologies such as In-Car Wi-Fi and its remote functions including lock and unlock capabilities to receive packages, LEAF can continue to excite those who are just starting their EV journey.”
As we reported in November, Nissan has also announced an upgrade of its popular EV, the MY20 Leaf. It will be offered with two different trims, one supported by a 40kWh battery and the other a 62kWh one. The 62kWh battery will deliver 239 miles of range (WLTP), up to 217PS power, 340Nm of torque and a 0-62mph time of 6.9 seconds.
