Kia e-Niro UK best-selling EV in October

The all-electric Kia e-Niro topped the EV sales charts in the UK for the month of October.

The company sold 833 units, representing an 8.9% share of all EVs sold in the UK during the month and securing the top spot sales position against all other brands’ electric models.

The e-Niro is available in the UK in three variants, ranging from the entry ‘2’ grade with the mid-range 39kWh battery and a 134 bhp motor offering 180 miles on a single charge, up to the 282-mile range topping ‘4+’ edition.

The e-Niro uses the typical CSS port, which is located at the front under a flap. The 4+ has 11kW AC charging and the rest merely offer 7.2kW. It takes a 9 hours 35 minutes to charge to 100% on a 7kW home wall box, and 54 minutes for 80% on 100kW DC.

The medium-size SUV has a price range from under £30,000 to a little over £36,000, including the plug-in grant and it also comes with a seven-year or 100,000 miles no quibbles warranty.

In the UK during Q3 the e-Niro family outsold the long-standing best seller, the Sportage. Also, across Europe during the same period, hybrids and EVs made up more than 1 in 4 Kia sales with the e-Niro family contributing 55,588 sales to the cause. The popularity of the vehicle does not come as a surprise as the EV is one of the most capable all-round EVs currently on the market.
