Lexus announces new pan-European charging service for UX 300e electric SUV

Lexus has created a new charging infrastructure to support the buyers of its first ever all-electric vehicle, the UX 300e.

The Lexus Charging Network will provide access to Europe’s largest network of around 160,000 public charging stations. Drivers will be able to access it through the Lexus Link app.

UX 300e owners will benefit from receiving only one contract and a single charging card for all participating charging stations. Life will be simply easier for those who are part of the Lexus family as customers will be able to charge their vehicles in different countries without the need for a large number of cards or contracts with other providers.

Lexus has always been a luxury brand with the objective of offering the best comfort possible to its buyers. The network is representative of that philosophy, according to Pascal Ruch, head of Lexus Europe:

“Owners of our new UX 300e will discover an electrified driving experience that is unique to Lexus,” he said. “In parallel, we have embraced the latest connectivity technology, to ensure the UX 300e meets our world-class benchmarks for customer satisfaction.”

We reported a few weeks ago how Lexus has opened reservations for the vehicle. It will be starting at £43,900 for the basic UX grade model. Customers can also specify either of two option packs: Premium Plus, taking the anticipated price to £47,400, and Takumi, at £53,500.

The 300e is a very intriguing model as it is powered by a generous 150kW electric motor and is equipped with a 54.3kWh lithium-ion battery. This comes with an industry-leading million-kilometre battery warranty. The system produces a maximum 300 Nm of torque and enables acceleration from zero to 62mph in 7.5 seconds. The driving range on a full charge is expected to be up to 196 miles. Using a 50kW DC charger, an 80 per cent charge should take 52 minutes to complete. First deliveries are expected in March 2021.
