Mazda announces price of MX-30 electric compact SUV

The starting price and range for Mazda’s first battery electric vehicle, the MX-30 EV, have been revealed.

The EV is expected to arrive in the UK next March and it will have a starting price of £25,545. The versatile crossover will feature an AC synchronous electric motor and a 35.5kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers a range of approximately 124 miles and comes with AC charging up to 6.6kW and DC rapid charging designed to meet 125A Combo Charging standards. Also, each MX-30 comes with a CCS socket for 50kW rapid charging, which can deliver up to 80% charge in just 36 minutes.

There will be an option to order a limited First Edition of the Mazda MX-30, which will be restricted to 500 units at a starting price of £27,495. The First Edition can be pre-ordered now and is available with a choice of free-of-charge Ceramic Metallic or Polymetal Grey Metallic single colours.

Mazda will also offer two more variants, the £27,545 MX-30 Sport Lux, which will come with 18-inch Bright Metallic alloy wheels and see an increase in standard equipment with the addition of power seats, lumber support adjustment and smart keyless entry. The range-topping GT Sport Tech will cost £29,845 and will include a front wiper de-icer, a power and tilt sunroof, a heated steering wheel and 12-speaker Bose surround sound.

The vehicle is 4,395mm long and 1,795mm wide, which makes it a compact SUV that will be competing in the same segment as the Toyota C-HR and Volvo XC-40.

According to Managing Director, Mazda Motors UK, Jeremy Thomson, the MX-30 represents the start of a greener future for the automaker.

“Our first all-electric Mazda heralds an exciting start to Mazda’s second century in business,” he said. “With the First Edition MX-30 order book now open, customers in the UK can reserve a car for just £800 for delivery early in 2021.
