Mercedes launches Ionity-ready EQV van for green families

There's a school of thought that says really expensive products are exempt from market swings, because the target market is unlikely to have any issues. The aftermath of the global pandemic is likely to test that theory somewhat over the next two years – especially when it comes to the latest EV from Mercedes. With the arrival of the EQV van, the Mercedes family of all-electric vehicles is getting a new member – and we have the UK pricing and specifications for you.

The new EV is now available to order with prices starting from £70,665 for the EQV 300 Sport, £72,895 for EQV 300 Sport Premium and £77,145 for the EQV 300 Sport Premium Plus.

This all-electric vehicle has been created to offer a green solution for families as it will have enough space for seven people and it's powered by a relatively generous 90 kWh battery. The motor is rated at a peak power delivery of 150kW (204hp) and 70kW (95hp) over a distance. The maximum torque is a hefty 364Nm.

The WLTP estimate is a range of 213 miles, although you might get closer to 250 miles in town, with lots of braking. An 80% refill is available in around 45 minutes, if you have access to a DC fast charger delivering over 100kW. Taking the kids for a burger/salad and picking up an extra ~160 miles is pretty decent – so you could say that the EQV has been targeted at families who do a lot of urban travelling – while trying to keep to chaotic schedules. Daimler was part of the joint venture to set up Ionity and, as such, owners will be able to access this network of pan-European chargers – offering up to 350Kw per point – useful for a 15 minute quick boost when time is of the essence.

The EQV features the brand’s MBUX infotainment system with EQ-specific features, including important information such as charging current and energy flow. Mercedes me Charge can also be accessed via MBUX which provides access to charging points across Europe – without the need for multiple accounts and RFID cards. It also incorporates multiple charging networks, including Polar which is the UK’s largest charging network. The navigation can also be set via MBUX, which bases its calculation on the fastest route taking into account the shortest charging time. It also informs the driver of nearby charging points.

The Sport model line comes with top notch Mercedes equipment as it will have 17-inch alloy wheels, LED Multibeam LED headlights, driving Assistance package, MBUX with Navigation Plus, reversing camera and electric sliding and eight metre charging cable.

For another £2,230, Sport Premium adds 360° camera and EQV Exterior Design package with table package and smartphone integration.

Mercedes is expected to begin deliveries in Autumn, which means that fans won’t have to wait too long for this high specification van.
