From the beginning of the year, Groupe PSA has been releasing all-electric or plug-in hybrid variants of its cars and vans. The company's aim is to electrify its entire range by 2025. As such, Groupe PSA will be releasing all-electric light commercial vehicles (LCVs) across its four brands.

More specifically, the Peugeot Expert, Citroën Dispatch, Vauxhall Vivaro and Opel Vivaro LCVs will all have an electric powertrain. The compact vans will be assembled at the Hordain plant in northern France. The electric vans will come in two models: one is equipped with a 50kWh battery pack rated on the WLTP cycle to last 124 miles, while the other has a larger 75kWh battery that'll last 186 miles on a single charge.

Xavier Peugeot, Senior Vice-President of Groupe PSA’s Light Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, said: “Groupe PSA is pushing ahead with the electrification of its LCV range by offering electric versions of compact vans for business and individual customers. Without compromising on features, the range will help strengthen our leadership in this segment in Europe. In 2021, our entire range of LCVs and their passenger car equivalents will be electrified.”

As of Q2 2019, Groupe PSA holds a 24.7% market share in the LCV segment across Europe. These new all-electric vans will mark a significant step towards electrification – not just from the company's point of view but also that of businesses who will be tempted to go green.

These new-gen vans have been designed around the EMP2 multi-energy platform to offer zero-CO2 mobility. By 2021, the company's brands, Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel and Vauxhall will have eight new plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

It's great to see advances from Groupe PSA in the LCV market. The company plays a big role in shaping this segment and it's great to see a commitment from the multi-billion Euro manufacturer.
