Shoppers at the Loddon Vale Centre, just east of Reading, and guests at the Camden Arms Hotel just outside Tunbridge Wells can now take advantage of brand new rapid chargers from Osprey. The addition of five 75kW chargers across these locations will allow local EV drivers and those in transit on the M4 and A21, more journey flexibility – making the transition to a carbon neutral country a little easier.
Osprey is also keen to point out that they are scoring high with ChargeSafe, an independent organisation that's dedicated to providing a trustworthy measurement for safety and security when charging at locations across the UK. Bigger batteries and more efficient powertrains mean that most EVs sold in the UK today, can drive further on a full charge than their owners. Destination anxiety then becomes a key factor when moving across to EVs. Specifically, will the charger work when I get there and will I feel safe to be charging there alone?
The 60+ point inspection carried out by ChargeSafe focuses on 4 key measures:-
- The environment where the charge point is located
- Nearby facilities available to the site
- Overall functionality of the chargepoints
- Accessibility to the site and chargepoints
All inspections are regularly verified by a third party, to ensure accuracy and that the assessment has been conducted without compromise and bias.
According to Osprey, the new 75kW rapid charge points are compatible with every EV on the market today and can typically add 100 miles of range in just 35 minutes – depending on the model of the vehicle and its battery.
With the Camden Arms hotel being next to a restaurant, it's easy to pop in for a bite or coffee while getting a charge. the chargers are an ideal place to charge an EV whilst popping for a bite to eat.

Osprey has a rolling plan to supply all of its charging locations with renewable energy.
The company hopes that by making these locations (and others) more attractive to EV drivers, then the landlords who move to install EV charging will benefit from increased footfall as the UK transitions to EV by 2030.
