Wiesmann opens bookings for Thunderball electric convertible roadster

Wiesmann has opened booking for the all-electric convertible roadster Thunderball, with prices starting from €300,000 and first deliveries expected in 2024.

The reservation announcement follows on from the car's global debut at this year’s prestigious amfAR Gala in Cannes, and the return of the Wiesmann brand with “the world’s first all-electric luxury roadster”, the company said.

Project Thunderball will be made from advanced carbon fibre, weighing in at little more than 1700kg (3747lb), with a power to weight ratio of 2.5kg per HP, the company said.

“Project Thunderball is the car that will bring Wiesmann into the new electrified era,” said Roheen Berry, CEO of Wiesmann. “Since revealing the car in April we have seen an overwhelming response from potential customers.” The car is driving beautifully and their investment in the technology such as the regenerative braking and latest battery technology has paid off, Berry added.

The vehicle’s production will take place at Wiesmann’s ‘Gecko’ factory in Dülmen, Germany. It will be crafted by many of the team that helped grow the iconic German brand. The company said Thunderball is the last truly independent European sports car marque remaining today, alongside some fresh new talent, using the most modern production technology.
