Nissan Ariya lands on British soil

Nissan’s all-electric crossover, the Nissan Ariya, landed at the Port of Tyne this weekend, marking the next phase towards its use on UK roads. The next step for these vehicles will be a final quality control check before being sent to dealerships ready for customer test drives and first customer deliveries.

The initial EV delivery is equipped with a 63kWh battery, Akatsuki Copper paint, Pearl Black roof fitted with an optional electric sunroof. It also features the Monolith 12.3in dual TFT screens, ProPILOT with Navi-Link, e-PEDAL step, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto as well as heated front seats, steering wheel and windscreen.

At a starting price of £43,845, with up to 329 miles of range for the 87kWh version, the Japanese-engineered Ariya has won the Auto Express ‘Car of the Year’ award.

To allow its customers to explore Ariya’s all-electric world, Nissan has taken its first steps into the Metaverse by launching a campaign to deliver interactive visuals and entertaining art experiences across multiple platforms including mobile, desktop and VR.

Nissan, harnessing immersive WebXR technology, challenged five artists to draw images of the new all-electric Ariya in five different locations around the UK.

The artists – Retro Manni (Birmingham), Tishk Barzanji (London), Janice Leung (Leeds), Neil Keating (Liverpool), and Antidote (Manchester), have used their own unique design style to showcase an electrifying interpretation of how the Nissan Ariya is a ‘ray of hope’ within each of their cities.

“The Japanese timeless design and innovation of the Ariya allows us to influence and explore new ways of communicating with our customers and I am very excited to be able to promote Nissan as one of the first Car manufacturers to utilise the Metaverse in this immersive and inclusive manner,” said Nic Thomas, Nissan GB’s Marketing Director.

Orders for the Ariya now being taken, with first deliveries expected in August.
