Everrati Automotive Limited has revealed technical details for its new high-performance zero emission version of the Ford GT40, another electrified classic under its belt.
The global technology company has announced that the new version will include Everrati’s own EV-propulsion system. The system delivers 800bhp and 800Nm of torque from two Intergral Powertrain motors, allowing the vehicle to reach 60mph in under four seconds, and a top speed of over 125mph.
The rapid-charging compatible battery is set to offer 60kWh. It will be integrated into a sector-leading 700-volt electrical system, which makes use of liquid-cooling as well as thermal and safety management systems to support high-performance use on both road and track.
The battery can be charged from 20% to 80% via an 80kW CCS fast charger in as little as 45 minutes and provides a range in excess of 125 miles.
The company, headquartered in Oxford, UK, will electrify the classic model without losing any of its beloved characteristics and well renowned performance. It will even be slightly lighter than the original, fossil fuelled version – 47kg less to be exact, coming in at a kerb weight of 1,320kg. The GT40 also boasts an improved weight distribution of 40/60 F/R, compared to 38/62 that featured in the original 1966 GT40 MKII A, which raced at Le Mans.
Everrati engineering director, Mike Kerr, said: “Future-proofing a car of the GT40’s legendary status is both a privilege and a challenging responsibility. Quality and authenticity are of paramount importance at every stage.”
Everrati joined forces with Superformance in July last year with the mission of re-engineering the legendary Le Mans-winning car with a custom-designed electric drivetrain to bring it into the zero-emissions world.
Superformance, based in Jupiter, Florida, is a global leader in the manufacture of 1960s-era continuation component sports cars and produces a rolling chassis for the GT40 built under license. The entire design and development stage will be documented and controlled using OEM-derived practices to ensure quality and standards are held up throughout, and to enable a repeatable and scalable production process.
Kerr said: “Everrati delivers the best electric drivers’ cars in the world and preserves the original characteristics of the past masters we work on, such that they can be enjoyed by aficionados in the coming age of zero-emission mobility.”
Everrati said it is drawing on more than 50 years automotive creation experience to bring tried and tested technology to the iconic GT40.
As it stands, the Everrati is the world’s only GT40 EV listed in the official Shelby Registry.
The company has already garnered considerable interest for its electrified Porsche 911 964.
