Watt Electric Vehicles forms conglomerate to ‘lead the niche’ Electric Vehicles sector

Watt EV Holdings Ltd has announced that it has assembled an electric vehicle manufacturing conglomerate as it seeks ramp up production at its two West Midlands facilities.

The Cornwall-based electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer will join forces with Watt Electric Vehicle Company, JSC Automotive Ltd and Stalcom Automotive technologies as it tries to reach a 5,000 vehicle per annum production capacity.

Paul Faithfull, the former director of Potenza Technology, will assume the role of CEO of the newly formed Watt Electric Vehicles company, with Stalcom founder Bob Mustard set to become the CTO of the company.  Neil Yates, the founder of Watt Electric Vehicle Company and JSC Automotive will become the new CCO.

“We firmly believe that by combining Watt Electric Vehicle Company, JSC Automotive and Stalcom to form Watt Electric Vehicles, we have created an extraordinary organization with the ability to lead the niche EV sector with our proprietary, versatile and scalable, PACES platform technology”, said Watt Electric Vehicles founder and CEO Paul Faithfull.

Central to Watt Electric Vehicles innovative model to deliver EVs is the company’s Passenger And Commercial EV Skateboard (PACES) technology – a patent protected chassis architecture system.

PACES consist of lightweight aluminum, which can be folded and interlock with other sheets of aluminum creating a technology that is called FlexTech – originally created by new conglomerate member Stalcom.

These flexible sheets of aluminum are lightweight and can be used for almost any size or shape of EV and are compliant with all International Organization for Standardization regulations and European Small Series Type Approval crash standards.

Additionally, lithium-ion batteries are used to power the EVs and are sourced from a Tier 1 automotive supplier.

PACES allows low volume commercial vehicles and car manufacturers to go electric without the cost of investing in their own specific chassis or electrification technology – enabling companies to bring vehicles to market in a timelier manner.

By using PACES technology, Watt Electric Vehicles hopes to add a diverse fleet of niche EVs to the automobile market.

Currently, the company’s production capacity sits at 5,000 units per year, with he newly developed West Midlands facilities chosen as the hub to manufacture Watt Electric Vehicles’ light commercial EV range.

The first prototype car to use PACES technology prototype has been built and is currently in a testing phase, with plans to unveil the first EV planned for Q3 2022 and full-scale production set to commence in 2024.

The first car to be produced is a sports Coupe, which combines “retro looks with state-of-the-art EV technology”. The car will feature a 40kWh battery that will be structurally integrated into the car’s chassis.

“Watt Electric Vehicle is posed to exploit the burgeoning demand for rapidly scalable niche electric vehicles, for both the passenger car and light commercial vehicle markets, alongside offering next-generation EV technologies and engineering consulting services,” said Neil Yates, founder and COO of Watt Electric Vehicles.
