MINI has been testing its all-electric edition of the new MINI 3-Door Hatch on snow and ice at the BMW Group’s winter test centre in Arjeplog, Sweden.
The tests are to ensure the vehicle’s electric drivetrain, battery, power electronics and charging technology can continue to function in freezing temperatures.
Snow-covered roads and specially prepared areas on frozen lakes serve as perfect test tracks for engineers to tune the power development of the motor, control systems, cornering behaviour, suspension, steering and braking system.

The 3-Door Hatch will be MINI’s fifth generation vehicle and the first of a new MINI family. A new crossover in the small-car segment and next generation MINI Countryman will complete the future core electric portfolio.
Both the MINI 3-Door Hatch and MINI Countryman are set to be revealed in 2023 while the all-electric crossover is due to be unveiled this year.
