The Green NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme), an industry-leading testing body promoting the development of clean, energy efficient cars, has handed the all-electric Nissan LEAF e+ a string of exceptional scores, resulting in a maximum five-star rating.
Put through its paces in the real-world and in the laboratory, the Nissan LEAF e+ achieved 10/10 for air quality and 9.9/10 for energy efficiency, reinforcing the model’s extensive sustainability credentials.
The award is a culmination of 10 years of development for the LEAF.
Nissan AMIEO’s region vice president for product planning Marco Fioravanti said: “Since the model’s launch as the first mass-market electric vehicle in 2010, the Nissan LEAF has made sustainable, zero-emission mobility an attainable reality for hundreds of thousands of customers around the world.”
Dave Moss, region senior vice president of research & development at Nissan AMIEO, added: “The maximum five-star rating for the LEAF e+ awarded by Green NCAP is a powerful testament to the quality of the product, and the extensive expertise that Nissan has gained throughout a pioneering decade of innovation in electrification. The LEAF e+ benefits from a fully electric 62kWh powertrain giving a range of up to 239 miles between charges. It also has intelligent driver assistance features and an innovative e-Pedal with regenerative energy technology.
To enhance energy efficiency further, customers can use the model’s B Mode and ECO Mode functions to maximise regenerative braking, optimise power output and conserve energy.
