A new version of the highly popular Nissan Leaf has been announced by the automaker and it will be called the MY20 Leaf.
The production of the vehicle will start from November 16 and it will be offered with two different trims one supported by a 40kWh battery and the other a 62kWh one, which now has a lower starting price.
The latter version will now have an entry-level variant called e+ N-Connecta and start from £32,695 OTR, including £3,000 Government Grant. The 62kWh battery will deliver 239 miles of range (WLTP), up to 217PS power, 340Nm of torque and a 0-62mph time of 6.9 seconds.
Further up the range, the top e+ Tekna 62kWh will have a lower starting price of £34,710. One of the key characteristics of this vehicle is the fact that it will be equipped with ProPILOT, Nissan’s advanced Driver Assistance technology.
The 40kWh battery version will have three different variants: the Acenta that will start from £26,845, N-Connecta with a price tag of £28,145 and the top of the range Tekna for £30,160. All these models, according to the company, will have WLTP range of 168 miles.
It will be interesting to see how this new version of the Nissan Leaf will do on the market. Since 2013, Nissan has been dominating EV sales, but now there is a new player in town, the ID.3.
Volkswagen has recently launched a new version of the vehicle for under £30,000 that will be supported by a 58-kWh battery (net capacity) and a 204 PS motor with 263 miles of range. The model is definitely going to rival the Leaf on the market as it will be able to offer more range at a lower price.
