Jaguar launches I-Pace experience at the Nürburgring

Across the globe, major cities are implementing ever-more serious traffic calming methods – from cameras to speed bumps. While a suburban test drive might be perfect for most family EVs, Jaguar is keen to offer potential customers access to first-hand experience of the I-Pace's 400ps engine. Where better than the 20.8km, 73-corner Nordschleife?

While the Panasonic Jaguar team prepare for a fourth season competing in the Formula E competition, the company has just completed the inaugural season of the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy – so they know how to provide excitement around a track.

Flying into Cologne airport, the Nürburgring is around 70km south with plenty of parking. Up to three people can get into the car with a professional racing driver. The experience costs €149 for a lap.

Jaguar's advertising for the ‘eTaxi experience' invites EV and racing enthusiasts to ‘ENTER. BUCKLE UP. HOLD TIGHT'. From our experience of being on tracks with pro-drivers, this is generally good advice, as they love nothing better than scaring ‘civilians' half to death.

The £60,000 all-wheel-drive I-Pace promises to get you to 60mph in just over four seconds, with a top speed of 124mph and a maximum claimed range of 292 miles.

Although all-wheel drive will give additional grip in the wet, if you're planning on the Jaguar electric experience, we'd recommend a dry day, instead.

If you're planning on a trip, you'll need to book and make your way to the Nürburgring before the end of November.
