Jameel Motors UK has officially announced the launch details for its innovative electric van, the Farizon SV, which promises a blend of efficiency, performance, and convenience. With pricing starting at £45,000 plus VAT, the vehicle is slated for customer delivery starting in the second quarter of 2025.
The Farizon SV is described as ‘born electric', a term indicating it was designed from the ground up to be an electric vehicle (EV). This design philosophy typically allows for greater integration of electric-specific features and more optimised space usage compared to vehicles that have been adapted from combustion engine frameworks. Here at WhichEV, we first came across Farizon at the Auto China Show back in 2024 – with the Homtruck. The company's range is actually really quite impressive.
The van will be offered in eight different configurations, catering to a variety of cargo and space needs. These range across three lengths (L1, L2, L3) and three heights (H1, H2, H3), with a notable feature being the low loading height of just 550 mm, designed to ease the loading process.
The electric powertrain features a permanent-magnet synchronous motor capable of producing 170 kW (231 horsepower) and 336 Nm of torque. The Farizon SV will be available with three battery options: a 67 kWh or an 83 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and a 106 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery for the largest configuration. These battery choices employ advanced cell-to-pack technology, enhancing the van’s battery capacity and structural rigidity without adding excessive weight.
In terms of technological advancements, the Farizon SV integrates a drive-by-wire system, which replaces conventional mechanical control systems with electronic controls. This not only improves the vehicle's responsiveness but also aids in enhancing the packaging and design flexibility of the van's interior.
Every model of the Farizon SV comes with a high level of standard equipment. Notable features include automatic headlights with Intelligent High Beam Control, automatic wipers, heated and ventilated seats, a heated windscreen, and a 360° Surround View camera. Additionally, an innovative payload monitoring system is installed to ensure compliance with gross vehicle weight regulations by using ride-height sensors to measure and display the vehicle’s weight directly to the driver.
Jameel Motors UK has confirmed that the Farizon SV comes with a comprehensive warranty package – four years or 120,000 miles for the vehicle and eight years or 120,000 miles for the battery. This warranty length is indicative of the company's confidence in the durability and reliability of their new electric van.
Tom Carney, Managing Director at Jameel Motors UK, commented on the vehicle’s competitive position in the market. “The Farizon SV is set to exceed expectations not just in terms of price but also with its standard specifications and unique features such as the weight monitoring system, which are not commonly available in competitor models,” he stated.
Optional features for the Farizon SV include a variety of exterior paint finishes, a Vehicle-to-load (V2L) system that allows the vehicle to power external devices, a towing package, and 270-degree rear doors, all available for additional costs.
The Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group, a subsidiary of Geely Holding Group and responsible for the development of the Farizon SV, operates China’s largest new energy commercial vehicle research institute. The company has achieved remarkable growth in its domestic market, with its market share doubling for three consecutive years. This year, Farizon reached a sales milestone of 300,000 units, marking it as a leader in China’s new energy commercial vehicle sector.
With the introduction of the Farizon SV, Jameel Motors UK aims to capture a significant portion of the UK market by offering a vehicle that not only meets the practical needs of commercial users but also leads in terms of energy efficiency and technological innovation. This approach could well set a new standard for the industry, positioning Farizon as a significant player in the global electric vehicle market.
