Lunaz, the Silverstone-based company specialising in the restoration and electrification of classic British cars, has announced a record surge in export demand and a significant appreciation in the secondary market value of its vehicles. This news underscores the growing global appetite for Lunaz’s unique blend of vintage aesthetics and cutting-edge electric technology.
The company has reported a remarkable 150% increase in export orders across the US, Europe, and the Middle East, demonstrating the international appeal of its electrified Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, Range Rover, and Rolls-Royce models. While international orders are booming, Lunaz remains committed to its home market, with 35% of its order book, stretching to 2026, originating in the UK.
This surge in demand reflects a growing customer base, drawn to the iconic designs of these classic vehicles but seeking a more modern and sustainable driving experience. These buyers, often first-time classic car owners, are playing a crucial role in preserving automotive history for future generations.
Lunaz’s meticulous process begins with a comprehensive bare-metal restoration, a painstaking undertaking that can take over 5,500 hours. This provides the perfect canvas for clients to collaborate with Lunaz’s team of designers, engineers, and restoration specialists to create a truly bespoke vehicle.
The result is a classic car reimagined for the 21st century, seamlessly blending timeless style with modern usability and exhilarating driving dynamics. This is achieved through the integration of Lunaz’s proprietary electric powertrain technology, upgraded braking and suspension systems, and a suite of advanced technological and infotainment features.
The increasing demand for Lunaz’s creations has also led to a significant rise in order values. Customers are investing not only in rare and highly sought-after models but also in intricate customisations, premium materials, and advanced engineering enhancements. This has driven an 18% increase in average transaction values.
Further bolstering Lunaz’s success is the appreciating secondary market for its vehicles. Existing Lunaz cars offered to clients on the waiting list have commanded a premium, with an average valuation uplift of 22%. This strong performance in the secondary market reinforces the long-term investment value of these electrified classics.
Lunaz’s commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident in the highly specialised requests they receive. One notable commission involved a 1958 Bentley Continental by James Young, one of only 13 remaining, destined for a client in France. The restoration was driven by the desire to share a love of classic British cars with his young family, addressing the usability and reliability challenges often associated with vintage vehicles. The family was so delighted with the result that they have commissioned further Lunaz builds for Jaguar, Bentley, and Range Rover models.
Another unique project involved a 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, commissioned by a European collector. The brief included a bespoke solution for storing and enjoying cigars. Lunaz’s designers collaborated with a Mayfair cigar merchant to create a custom humidor, perfectly tailored to the client’s preferred brand and gauge. Complementary wood-patterned ashtrays, inlaid with gold and magnetised for secure placement on the rear picnic tables, completed the personalised touch. The car, finished in a striking Wealden Green over Shale two-tone paint scheme, has become a familiar sight outside exclusive London establishments.
For Range Rover Classic models, Lunaz has been tasked with creating vehicles that are equally adept at off-road adventures and navigating city streets. The extensive range of customisation options allows for specialised builds tailored to specific needs, such as field sports or coastal living.
David Lorenz, Founder & CEO of Lunaz, commented: “The growth of our export business, along with the appreciating value of Lunaz cars offered to the secondary market, demonstrates a global appreciation for the Lunaz proposition: to marry cutting-edge technology and exceptional driving dynamics with the style of an era when beauty was the only requirement. This success lays the foundation for many years of growth, ensuring that we can continue developing and nurturing the very best restoration, engineering, and design talent. Indeed, these results are a testament to the breadth of capability within our team here in Silverstone, as they elevate these cars to a peerless standard for a growing and vibrant global customer base.”
With order books now stretching into the second half of 2026, Lunaz’s future looks bright. As the demand for electrified classics continues to rise, the company is well-positioned to capitalise on its unique expertise and continue to redefine the future of automotive heritage.
