Vauxhall has officially opened orders for its highly anticipated new Grandland, a stylish and dynamic SUV that marks a significant step forward in the brand’s journey towards electrification. With deliveries set to begin in October, the New Grandland promises to be a versatile and spacious option for drivers seeking a blend of modern design, advanced technology, and electric efficiency.
Three Fully Electric Models
The new Grandland is available in three all-electric variants: Electric Design, Electric GS, and Electric Ultimate. Each model is equipped with a 73kWh battery and a 213PS motor, providing substantial range and performance. The Electric Design variant offers the longest range at 325 miles, with the Electric GS following closely at 323 miles, and the Electric Ultimate providing a range of 318 miles. Prices for these models start at £40,995 for the Electric Design, £43,145 for the Electric GS, and £45,195 for the Electric Ultimate.

Electric Design 73kWh 213PS | 325 miles | £40,995 |
Electric GS 73kWh 213PS | 323 miles | £43,145 |
Electric Ultimate 73kWh 213PS | 318 miles | £45,195 |
Design and Platform Innovation
Sitting at the top of Vauxhall’s refreshed SUV line-up, the new Grandland is the largest model in the range, measuring 4,650mm in length—17cm longer than its predecessor. The vehicle is built on the new Stellantis STLA Medium platform, which is BEV-native and designed to accommodate the future needs of electric vehicles. The platform's flat battery packaging design not only supports the current 73kWh battery but is also prepared to house a larger 98kWh battery, expected to offer a range of up to 435 miles when it becomes available next year.
The Grandland’s design draws inspiration from the Vauxhall Experimental concept, introducing the “Vauxhall Compass” design language with vertical and horizontal lines that create a bold, modern aesthetic. The 3D Vizor grille, standard across all models, is a standout feature, and on the GS and Ultimate trims, it is enhanced with an illuminated Griffin emblem. This grille is complemented by full-width LED daytime running lights (DRLs), adding to the SUV’s contemporary appeal.
At the rear, the Grandland continues the compass theme with the integration of the “VAUXHALL” script in illuminated lettering—a first for a production model. This feature, along with the full-width brake lights and the vertical third brake light, emphasises the vehicle’s striking design.
Advanced Lighting and Safety Features
A key highlight of the Grandland is the introduction of Vauxhall’s Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD headlamps, which are standard on the GS and Ultimate models. This state-of-the-art lighting system features over 50,000 individual elements and uses a camera to deliver precise light distribution based on traffic conditions. This technology not only enhances visibility but also ensures that other road users are not dazzled by the SUV’s bright and homogeneous light pattern.
Safety is further enhanced in the Ultimate trim with the inclusion of Drive Assist 2.0, which offers advanced driver assistance features such as rear cross-traffic alert, lane change assist, and a 360-degree surround-view parking camera. These features aim to provide drivers with a safer and more convenient driving experience, particularly in urban environments.
Interior Comfort and Technology
Inside the Grandland, Vauxhall has focused on creating a driver-oriented and technology-rich environment. The dashboard features a centrally mounted 10-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard across all models. GS and Ultimate variants are equipped with a larger 16-inch touchscreen, which also includes wireless smartphone charging. Additionally, a fully digital 10-inch cluster provides the driver with essential vehicle information.
Comfort is a priority in the Grandland, with the introduction of AGR-approved Intelli-Seat front seats on GS and Ultimate models. These seats, which are designed to relieve pressure on the tailbone, are made from 100% recycled materials and ensure outstanding comfort, even during long journeys. Rear passengers benefit from an additional 20mm of legroom compared to the outgoing model, thanks to the vehicle’s longer wheelbase of 2,784mm.
In terms of storage, the new Grandland offers up to 1,645 litres of load space with the rear seats folded down. The boot alone provides 550 litres of storage, an increase of 36 litres over the previous model. Vauxhall has also introduced innovative storage solutions, including the Pixel Box—an illuminated translucent glass compartment located ahead of the gear selector. This storage area, available on GS and Ultimate models, includes a wireless charging pad for smartphones, ensuring that devices are both secure and easily accessible.
Powertrain and Performance
The Grandland’s electric powertrain offers not only efficiency but also performance, with the 0-62mph sprint achieved in 9.0 seconds. The vehicle’s range of up to 325 miles on a single charge makes it a practical option for both urban commuting and longer journeys. Drivers can choose from three levels of regenerative braking, controlled via steering wheel paddles, to optimise energy recovery and range.
Looking ahead, Vauxhall plans to introduce a Long-Range version of the Grandland next year, featuring a 98kWh battery and an estimated range of 435 miles. This variant will further enhance the SUV’s appeal to drivers seeking maximum range and flexibility.
Plug & Go – Supporting the Move to Electric
Vauxhall is committed to making the transition to electric vehicles as seamless as possible for its customers. As part of the brand’s Plug & Go offer, buyers of the Grandland Electric are eligible for a free Octopus Energy Ohme Pro wallbox and installation, providing a convenient home charging solution. Alternatively, customers can opt for one year’s free charging credit at Tesco stores across the UK, reflecting Vauxhall’s partnership with the retailer.
To further support electric vehicle users, Vauxhall includes an Octopus Electroverse card with every new electric vehicle purchase. This card provides access to over 750,000 public chargers across the UK and Europe, allowing for hassle-free charging on the go.
Vauxhall also offers peace of mind with an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty and three years of roadside assistance as standard with the Grandland Electric. This comprehensive support package is designed to give customers confidence in their decision to switch to electric.
The launch of the Grandland marks a significant milestone for Vauxhall as it continues to expand its electric vehicle offerings. With its combination of modern design, advanced technology, and a fully electrified powertrain, the Grandland is set to appeal to a wide range of drivers. As Vauxhall moves towards its goal of offering fully electric versions of all its cars and vans by the end of 2024, the Grandland stands as a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
