Volkswagen has announced the launch of its new ID.7 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer models in the United Kingdom, available for order through Volkswagen UK retailers. The new models, priced at £61,980 for the ID.7 GTX and £62,670 for the ID.7 GTX Tourer, bring enhanced performance and luxury to Volkswagen's electric vehicle line-up.
The ID.7 GTX series features a significant upgrade with the inclusion of dual-motor technology, delivering a power output of 340 PS, a 54 PS increase over the ID.7 Pro S Match derivatives. This is made possible by the addition of a front motor, marking the first time 4MOTION all-wheel drive has been available in the ID.7 and ID.7 Tourer variants.
The increased power enables the ID.7 GTX to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.4 seconds, while the Tourer version completes the same sprint in 5.5 seconds. Despite its performance credentials, the ID.7 GTX Tourer maintains practicality with 605 litres of luggage space when the rear seats are in the cargo position.
In terms of range, the ID.7 GTX offers a WLTP all-electric range of 366 miles, while the ID.7 GTX Tourer provides a slightly lower range of 359 miles. Both models support fast charging at up to 200 kW DC, allowing a charge from 10 to 80 percent of battery capacity in approximately 26 minutes, making them convenient for long-distance travel.
The new GTX models boast a range of luxury features, building on the specifications of the Pro Match trim. These include 20-inch Skagen alloy wheels, GTX-specific exterior styling, and advanced interior comforts such as ventilated and heated massage seats in the front and heated rear seats. The in-car experience is further enhanced by a Harman Kardon sound system and Volkswagen's DCC adaptive chassis control system, which includes driving profile selection.
Volkswagen has equipped the ID.7 GTX series with advanced lighting technology, featuring IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights and illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear. The vehicles also come with an augmented-reality head-up display, GTX-specific interior styling elements, and the latest iteration of Volkswagen’s IDA voice assistant, which integrates ChatGPT for improved voice command capabilities.
Among the technological advancements, the Park Assist Pro feature stands out, allowing drivers to control parking procedures via a smartphone. This is part of a suite of options available to enhance the driving and ownership experience of the new ID.7 GTX models.
Volkswagen's introduction of the ID.7 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer marks a significant addition to its electric vehicle offerings, blending performance, luxury, and cutting-edge technology. The launch aligns with the company's broader strategy to expand its electric vehicle line-up and provide customers with a range of options that meet varying needs and preferences. With the ID.7 GTX models, Volkswagen continues to advance in the competitive electric vehicle market, offering a compelling blend of performance, practicality, and innovation.
