Public EV charging app Bonnet has added 900 EV chargers to its network by partnering with EQUANS, which owns and operates GeniePoint, the UK’s third largest rapid electric vehicle charging network.
GiniePoint is the 15th charge point operator to be added on Bonnet, bringing the total number of charge point locations on the latter’s platform to over 32,000, the company said in a press release. GeniePoint’s over 900 chargers are situated in convenient locations nationwide, allowing drivers to charge their vehicles with ease.
GeniePoint’s 50kW rapid charge points provide an 80 per cent charge within 45 minutes depending on the make and model of vehicle, Bonnet said. These chargers can be found at strategic locations across the country including Morrisons supermarkets and Whitbread’s Premier Inn Estates, it said.
The EV charge point aggregator has been expanding its CPO network to facilitate the increasing number of EV users with public charging solutions as the UK will ban the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles in 2030.
“GeniePoint’s state of the art rapid charge points will be available for all Bonnet users,” Co-founder and CEO of Bonnet Patrick Reich said. “This partnership is a further step towards alleviating charging anxiety concerns that many drivers still have.”
Commenting on the development, Dee Humphries, Managing Director of EQUANS’ EV Solutions business, said: “We’re committed to improving charger accessibility, to ensure that drivers can get a charge whenever and wherever they need it.”
Humphries also said that the two companies share the same values in innovation and service and are able to offer EV drivers a convenient and simple way to charge. “We hope that through making the charging experience as easy as possible for drivers with partners like Bonnet, we can accelerate the UK’s transition to electric vehicles.”
