Citroën vows to make EVs accessible with new ‘Power to the People’ branding

Citroën has unveiled a new brand philosophy in the UK to reaffirm its commitment to making EVs accessible to everyone.

The new approach entitled ‘Power to the People’ highlights the company’s range of nine electric and plug-in hybrid models already available to UK buyers. Citroën is also one of only a few marques that offers a full electric line-up of light commercial vehicles. Its goal is to offer electrified variants across its entire model range by 2025.

From its Ami quadricycle to its large e-Relay electric van, the French firm is looking to cover all bases in terms of affordability and needs.

Its passenger line-up includes the e-C4 electric, with a WLTP range of 219 miles, along with the e-Berlingo electric and e-SpaceTourer electric MPVs.

Plug-in wise, Citroën offers the new C5 Aircross and C5 X for fleet and business users. Both PHEVs have an efficient 1.6 litre PureTech 180 petrol engine, with an 80kW electric motor, giving an electric range of 34 WLTP miles.

City-dwellers will be able to get their hands on the new Ami electric very soon as it is due to launch in the UK “imminently”, according to Citroën. With a range of up to 45 WLTP miles and a top speed of 28mph, the vehicle is designed for city commuting or a trip to the shops.

Next year, the company will launch its Ami Cargo electric for ‘last mile’ deliveries in urban areas. This has a payload of up to 140 kg and a maximum load capacity of 400 litres.

Eurig Druce, Citroën’s UK managing director, said: “Our existing range of nine electrified models already fulfils a diverse range of needs and is proof that electric vehicles are a practical option, whether it’s for the school run or to run your business. Crucially, our products are affordable, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the benefits of driving an electric vehicle. We believe that we offer ‘every kind of electric for all kinds of people’, which is why we’ve introduced our new electrification philosophy – Power to the People!”
