Price comparison site Uswitch has put together a guide to help people benefit from the “OLEV Grant” before it is removed on 31 March 2022.
The OLEV Grant refers to a government grant for electric home chargers provided by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV).
Those considering an installation of an EV home charger can claim up to £350 off the cost of purchasing and installing a home charging point.
But the current grant ends on March 31st and cannot be claimed for installs completed after that date.
That is because the government allocated a specific amount of money to this grant scheme, which has now been used up.
To qualify for the grant, you will need to own a battery electric car, or have leased one for a minimum of six months, and have off-street parking. There are certain hybrid vehicles that also qualify.
The OLEV has put together a list of all vehicles eligible for the OLEV Grant. If you are located in Scotland, you can receive an added grant of £250 provided by the Scottish government.
The £1,500 Plug-in Vehicle Grant remains for vehicles under £32,000.
