Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 with 358-mile range on sale now

Mercedes-AMG has announced that its first fully electric high-performance saloon, the EQS 53 4MATIC+, has gone on sale with prices starting at £154,995 OTR and first deliveries due in April 2022.

The EQS 53 is available in two product lines: Night Edition and Touring.

Both versions feature a 4WD dual-motor AMG electric drivetrain that produces 658hp and 950Nm. This gives an acceleration from 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 137mph.

With the Night Edition only, there is an optional performance package add-on, capable of 761hp and 1,020 Nm, giving a 0-62mph sprint time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 155mph.

Stored underneath the car is a 107.8kWh battery that has an official WLTP range of 358 miles.

As standard, both model lines come with features including a hyperscreen package with augmented reality head-up display, nappa leather upholstery, a Burmester surround system, AMG black panel radiator grille with hot-stamped vertical struts in chrome and an AMG front bumper.

Standard safety features, include a parking package with active parking assist and 360° camera, and a driving assistance package plus.

With the Night Edition, consumers get 21in alloy wheels, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, sports pedals and full leather upholstery.

The performance package is an additional £8,995 inc. VAT and includes a ceramic composite braking system, dynamic plus boost for race start, which increases the maximum power and torque for short bursts, carbon-fibre trim and driver’s package with maximum top speed increased to 155 mph.

The Touring model comes with 22in alloy wheels and an ambient lighting system inside the cabin.

An optional rear luxury lounge package for £2,995 inc. VAT is available exclusively with the Touring model, and features nappa leather seats in black, luxury head restraints, an MBUX rear tablet, neck and shoulder heating, climate control, heated seating, and wireless charging for mobile devices – all in the rear.

Customers purchasing any EQS model get a three year ‘Mercedes me Charge’ subscription providing access to a growing number of public charging stations. This is all managed through one account with one monthly invoice.

As part of the subscription, customers get a six-month bp pulse+ subscription providing free/lower cost charging at bp pulse charging stations – and also a one-year IONITY unlimited membership with free charging at IONITY rapid-charging stations.
