Leading car manufacturer BMW Group announced that it delivered its 1 millionth electrified vehicle on 6 December.

The recipient of the millionth vehicle, a BMW iX, also received as gifts a BMW Wallbox to charge at home and charging credit to use at public BMW chargers across Europe, to mark the occasion.

BMW, which is made up of BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad and sells vehicles in over 140 countries, aims to pass the 2 million-mark in two years’ time, and 10 million in the next decade.

This goal is in keeping with the ambitious targets for its MINI and Rolls-Royce brands, which it promises will be fully electric by 2030.

“Thanks to our steadily growing product range, we are setting ourselves ambitious sales targets, in particular for fully-electric vehicles: In 2022, we aim to double this year’s sales,” said Pieter Nota of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

“We expect at least one out of every two BMW Group vehicles sold to be fully electric by 2030.”

BMW Group also operates 250,000 charge points in Europe and manufactures home charging systems.

“Our commitment spans the entire value chain: from compelling products and services through strategic investments, all the way to building our own company charging infrastructure,” said BMW Group’s head of strategic product management, Dr Andreas Aumann.
