A survey carried out by Fiat Professional has revealed that 91% of van drivers in the UK believe that it is vital for everyone to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
The research, which included 500 van drivers, has also highlighted that 35% of them are considering the switch to electric for their next van.
The survey was carried out for the launch of the Fiat E-Ducato electric van in the UK, which has a range of up to 192 miles (WLTP) between charges, almost four times the daily distance driven by the van drivers surveyed.
Richard Chamberlain, from Fiat Professional has explained that EV vans are the future thanks to their multiple benefits.
“Electric vans offer a lot of benefits for delivery companies and tradespeople,” he said. “Not only are they environmentally friendly, but they are also exempt from the congestion charge and ULEZ and are available with up to a whopping £8,000 government grant.”
It is quite important that delivery companies start to become more environmentally friendly. Another survey by Fiat has highlighted that three quarters of adults want delivery companies to use zero emission vehicles where they can, while 75% want to see retail and consumer companies focus on ways to reduce their carbon footprint. Also 52% would like to know more about the carbon footprint of delivery companies across the UK.
The all-electric revolution is now reaching delivery services and not only the private sector as people care more than ever that companies are being as eco-conscious as possible, according to Chamberlain.
“Transportation is changing, and it’s not just the people behind the wheel who want a more environmentally friendly way of getting from A to B,” he said. “The way we buy goods has radically shifted over the past 12 months as e-commerce becomes a more and more important part of consumer behaviour.”
