Volta Trucks and the Petit Forestier Group have joined forces to make a refrigerated all-electric commercial vehicle available for rental from 2022.

The European leader in refrigeration rentals has agreed to purchase 1,000 Volta Zeros to accelerate its transition towards cleaner energies. It represents Volta Trucks’ largest sale to date.

As we reported, the Volta truck will have a 160 to 200 kWh battery size and a range of 90 to 125 miles, with a top speed of 56 mph. It is also estimated that it will eliminate around 180,000 tonnes of CO2 by 2025.

The refrigerated full-electric 16-tonne zero-emission commercial trucks will join the Petit Forestier Group’s fleet of over 58,500 vehicles. The group has already started collaborating with the Volta Trucks’ technical teams to ensure the comprehensive integration of the box body and the refrigeration unit, with the first refrigerated Volta Zero due for user testing in 2021 ahead of the start of production in 2022.

This partnership is considered one of the first steps by the Forestier Group towards a more sustainable future of the company, according to Léonard Forestier, Chief Executive Officer.

“This partnership embodies our desire to significantly increase our pace in terms of innovation and energy transition of our fleet,” he said. “We are taking action now to prepare for the future and to provide our customers with the best zero-emission refrigeration solutions, designed for their urban deliveries.”

This is the second big partnership in the space of few months for Volta as we reported that the company has signed a multi-million-pound deal with Drink Cubed to supply a fleet of Volta Zero vehicles into its distribution operations between 2022 and 2023.
