The Polestar 2, an upcoming all-electric fastback has had its European pricing confirmed. Production will start early next year, with initial deliveries set for June 2020. The car has generated a lot of traction among car enthusiasts, as its dual-electric motors are able to output a staggering 408hp (or 300 kW) of power with 600 Nm of torque at the wheel; 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds, too.

It's not a short-distance, city car either, as with a quoted WLTP range of 500km (311 miles) and its 78 kWh battery pack, it's up there with some of the longest range electric cars, such as the Tesla Model 3 that reaches up to 348 miles.

As for the price, they are as follows:

  • United Kingdom: GBP 49,900
  • Norway: NOK 469,000
  • Sweden: SEK 659,000
  • Germany: EUR 58,800
  • The Netherlands: EUR 59,800
  • Belgium: EUR 59,800

Guide prices were also revealed: USD 63,000 in North America and RMB 460,000 in China. Finalised pricing will come at a later date for these markets.

The prices are inclusive of VAT and also feature Volvo's Pilot and Plus package, routine servicing and maintenance for the first three years. The car can be reserved through the company's website; a fully refundable deposit of EUR 1,000 / GBP 1,000 / SEK/NOK 10,000 is required, however.

In the UK the Polestar 2 sits in-between the Tesla Model 3 Long Range and Performance models. It'll be interesting to see how it fares to its main competitor; Personally, I'm glad we'll have another premium-looking EV on the market.

“We have seen very keen interest in Polestar 2 since revealing it earlier this year. By confirming European pricing, we show the outstanding value this high specification vehicle represents,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar.

Inside, the car will have a new infotainment system which will be powered by the world's first Android Automotive OS. The car will, therefore, feature Google Assistant and have the company's suite of apps pre-installed, including Google Maps.

On 8 October, Polestar announced pricing for its performance pack, which comprises of a 4-piston Brembo front brake setup, adjustable Öhlins dampers and 20″ forged alloy wheels, complemented by gold seatbelts and valve caps. The breakdown of the option is as follows:

  • United Kingdom: GBP 5,000
  • Norway: NOK 50,000
  • Sweden: SEK 60,000
  • Germany: EUR 6,000
  • The Netherlands: EUR 6,000
  • Belgium: EUR 6,000

“The Performance Pack allows us to take Polestar 2 driving dynamics to the next level. Some highly specialised additions, tuned by our engineers, deliver an even more engaging and unique Polestar experience,” comments Ingenlath.
